High School and College and Career
One critical building block that is intricately bound to the well-being of the community is preparation and success of students leaving high school. During the adolescent years teens navigate social, emotional and physical changes while contemplating their place in the community and universe. These betwixt years of life are a transition period and a time of exploration.
Our Corning Promise Vision
Corning Promise envisions a strong system that supports every adolescent’s academic, emotional and career success by supporting rigorous coursework, career exploration and therapeutic services.
What We’re Doing
The Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indian tribe works collaboratively with regional organization to support program development, implement system improvement strategies, and other direct services that positively impact students, educators, schools, and the district.
The strategies supported through Corning Promise (Everett Freeman Promise Neighborhood) using federal and state Promise Neighborhood grant funds include:
- Recreation and Enrichment classes
- Wellness Coordinator (Community Agency Integration and student support)
- CTE optimization – system-level approach
- School-based therapy services for high school students
