 STUDENT MOBILITY
Between 2017 to 2020, there has been a moderate decrease of 6% in the student mobility rate. Rates dropped from 26.6% in 2017 to 20.4% in 2020 for TK – Grade 12 students attending partnering school districts.
The reported data is an aggregated statistic of CUESD and CUHSD student entries and withdrawals. The calculation used for student mobility rate is the number of student entries and withdrawals (excludes grade promotions, school closures, and school feeders) from the first day of official enrollment until the end of the academic school year, divided by the first official enrollment count of the academic year.
In 2019, 57% of family members reported reading to their children, birth to Kindergarten, three or more times a week. The same year, 59% of family members reported encouraging their children, from Kindergarten to Grade 8, to read books outside of school.
Since 2017, 94%+ of students attending partnering school districts have reported having access to home or school internet.
Local data collected from the partnering school districts revealed that the Climate Survey federal indicator question designed to understand internet access did not capture the unique challenges and demands of distant learning requirements. The school district’s response to the digital needs of families, including providing Chromebooks to students and hot spot devices, has resulted in a growing number of households now having Internet access robust enough to conduct distant learning.
